CoVid-19 TOTD #6: Being Conscious

By Cheryl Minnette

We, humans, are a smart species. As we try to figure things out in order to help ourselves, sometimes we aren’t seeing the whole picture. Since COVID-19 is so new, spreading like wildfire, and we are still learning about it, it makes sense that the fear of possible death has caused many to try all sorts of things. Some have even gone as far as drinking chemically manufactured cleaners. Others are attempting to go the PH route.

The pH value of COVID-19 is between 5.5 and 8.5

With the ph level of COVID-19 being between 5.5 and 8.5, many think changing their diet is a cure. They think that eating an alkaline diet of food with a pH higher than 8.5 will automatically produce an environment that will eradicate the virus. What many don’t realize is that our bodies are engineered very intricately. When it comes to the pH levels, the human body is designed to regulate pH levels within a very narrow range. As humans, we cannot simply flip the alkaline switch to high to change our normal pH levels.

CoVid-19 TOTD #6: Being Conscious

By Cheryl Minnette

How do you strategically plan your summertime to include
controlling your subconscious?

Summertime is a fun time, or is it? Usually, when Sommertyme comes, there are so many activities to do and places to go. When you’re in the great outdoors, one tends to let go of some of their conscious thinking. For instance, when you go to your favorite park, you slip into your subconscious, because you’re yearning for relaxation and a moment away from the coronavirus. I totally get it, but here’s what ends up happening.

You get there, hear the ice cream vendors and think to yourself, oh yummm. As you walk further into the park with ice cream cone in hand, you lower your mask to begin enjoying your double scooped sugar cone. Moving along the path, you pass the beautifully arranged fragrant flowerbeds as you head toward the large oval shaped pond. You slowly begin to let your guard down as you feel the warmth of the sun, a breeze kissing your cheek, and still catching the floral fragrance in the air.

Although our new normal has us more conscious about some things, unfortunately when we switch our mode from ‘fully focused’ to ‘easy-going’, that is usually when our subconscious takes over. This causes us to react before we realize it.

Here are some reactive examples, now that you are in the park:

  • With your hand, you immediately wipe your mouth as the mess of your quickly melting ice cream cone catches you off guard when it drips from the corner of your mouth.
  • You begin rubbing your nose as the wind tickles it with the scents from the flower beds.
  • You start to touch your eyes as the heat from the sun begins to make them feel dry.
  • You touch your face to brush back hair as a breeze is gently blowing.

Make sure that you avoid touching your mouth, nose, eyes, and face with hands that are unwashed.

It is not easy living in a conscious state of mind all the time. COVID-19 has propelled you into a new lifestyle. This means you must be consciously mindful of what you are doing at all times when it comes to your safety.

CoVid-19 TOTD #5: Summer Holiday Tips

By Cheryl Minnette

Many Americans are gearing up for their Fourth of July weekend, which is right around the corner. This is a time when people get together with family and friends to have a great time. Usually, they would come together for picnics or barbecues, then end the day watching a wonderful display of fireworks. With 2020 being hit with a second wave of COVID-19 across the country, how do you plan on spending your holiday weekend?

For those of you that will be out and about, going here and there, or whether you are the host, here are some tips you may want to incorporate into your holiday.

  • Arrange for your activities to be outdoors, instead of a full day indoors
  • Shorten the length of time you spend with others indoors
  • Keep the number of attendees low

Doing the above in addition to adhering to the protocols of wearing a face mask, washing your hands frequently, and practicing 6-feet of social distancing, would help to keep the number of COVID-19 cases low. This year, you may opt to avoid crowds at places like parades, festivals, and fireworks, simply because it is difficult to maintain 6 feet of social distancing.

Abby’s Top 5 Summer Sneakers

Abby’s Favorite Summer Sneakers

Who’s ready for the weekend? I am sure am!

I love my heels but when it’s leisure time my footsies enjoy the soothing comfort of a good pair of sneakers. Today I’m going to share a few of my favorites and a couple of outfit ideas. Let’s get to it.

First up we have the lace-up Nike Mayfly Woven Sneaker, a perfect run about town shoe. After doing some window shopping with a couple of friends on a beautiful Saturday morning how about lunch at an outdoor café? The unique looking Arctic pink (nude) shoe in the picture features woven details on the upper to allow for breathability.

Outfit Idea 1

  • Casual navy & white striped dress
  • Denim jacket
  • Nude sneakers
  • Straw fedora
  • Straw tote bag
  • Shades

There is no better way to begin the day, after coffee, than a trip to the gym. Who am I kidding? These solid white leather low-top Adidas Superstar Classic Sneakers with striped sides and workout outfit are strictly for fashion purposes.

Outfit Idea 2

  • Black shorts
  • Black tank
  • White sneakers
  • White ball cap
  • Drawstring backpack
  • Shades
  • Water bottle

One of the things I like most about HSN (Home Shopping Network) is they way they describe their products. More retailers could take a page from their book.

As soon as I saw these silver/tan Naturalizer Morrison Classic Lace-Up Sneakers I knew they were meant to have a new home with me. So naturally, I had to take them on an outing to the zoo.

Outfit Idea 3

  • White skinny jeans
  • B&w striped top
  • Silver crossover bag
  • Silver sneakers
  • Shades

Who doesn’t love a crisp white pair of sneaks? The Reebok Classic Sneakers and Adidas By Raf Simons both fit the bill. Keeping several pairs of white sneakers ensures that I’ll always have pristine shoes.

What are your favorite types of sneakers? Do you go for prints and funky colors? I’d love to hear about your faves.

Have a nice weekend!
