Scarves are a timeless multi-functional accessory. From headwraps to belts the only limitation to what you can do with a scarf is your imagination.
The versatility of scarves cannot be denied. Here are just a few fun ideas:
-
From Scarves To Neckties
Long scarves work really well knotted like a necktie. I like to wear mine with knot midway down my chest. Here are tying instructions:
- Drape scarf around your neck (one side longer than the other)
- Cross the long end over the short end
- Pull the long end behind the short end
- Bring the long end around. It should be facing off to the opposite side
- Pull the long end up under the loop around your neck
- Pull the long end down through the knot at the front of the scarf
- Tighten the knot by sliding it up the short end
-
Scarves As Jewelry
To create a necklace take a long lightweight scarf.
- Fold the scarf in half and tie a knot in the center
- Tie 2 more knots evenly spaced between the center knot and the ends on both sides
- Tie the ends together behind your neck and you’ve got a knotted scarf necklace
- To spice things up a bit you could add wooden beads
-
Handbag Accessory Scarves
To repurpose an old handbag or a clutch with a fold over flap, create a scarf purse strap.
- Remove old strap
- Fold the scarf lengthwise
- Twist
- Tie each end to the strap holder
- For a clutch, tie scarf ends together and insert flap through the loop voilà purse strap
- Just want to add a little zing to your bag? Tie a small colorful scarf where the bag and strap meet
-
No Infinity Scarf? No problem
- Take a long scarf
- Tie the ends of the scarf together
- Place the loop over your head
- Let it hang as a singular loop
- Twist and place the second loop over your head
-
The Scarf Belt
- Twist or fold scarf lengthwise
- Tie around your waist
-
The Loose Square Scarf
- Fold oversized square scarf in half diagonally to create a triangle
- Hold the upside-down folded triangle in front of you like a bib
- Take the two ends along the fold and place under your chin
- Cross the ends behind your neck
- Bring the ends to the front and let them hang loose
Scarves with fringes, metallic threads, or other embellishments can really make your entire outfit pop. Have fun experimenting and don’t strive for perfection. Remember, effortless is the keyword.
