Editor’s Note:

We are so excited to announce our newest Bold Blind Beauty Up In The A.I.R. Webinar: Level Up Your Career with an Eye-Catching Profile on LinkedIn with Empish Thomas! This webinar is extra timely since October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM).

Empish is someone I met years ago as we both served as Peer Advisors for visionaware.org and remained friends ever since. She is an extremely talented writer and one of the most beautiful souls I know. Soft spoken and full of grace Empish never has a bad word to say about anyone and she has a great deal of self awareness. A lover of books, Empish is also one of those people who is a life long learner and is constantly improving her skills to keep up with our fast paced world.

Tackling the high unemployment rate for people with disabilities begins with making a good first impression, so why not start with your LinkedIn profile? In the following piece Empish explains why you should care about LinkedIn. Enjoy! ~Steph

What’s LinkedIn and why you should care?

LinkedIn is the most underutilized social media platform compared to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram and Tick Tock. It is also the best search engine businesses, corporations, and companies use daily.

People wrongly assume that LinkedIn is only for job seekers. This is not true because it provides a rich opportunity to make work connections and boost professional development. As a result of this myth people assume they don’t have to develop and manage their profile as long as it’s there and the job info is accurate.

Yet, when someone searches for you online your LinkedIn profile comes up first the majority of the time. Hence, if it is not updated, no active engagements and few connections, then you are missing important opportunities and don’t even know it.

Purpose of the Webinar

As a person with vision loss and seeking employment, I have learned the power of LinkedIn. Recruiters and prospective employers come to this platform when looking for employees to hire. However, I also know LinkedIn is a valuable tool for interaction with others in my career field. I have met all kinds of people all over the world who share the same professional interest and passion as me.

This is why we have launched an upcoming webinar about LinkedIn. The presentation will be held on Thursday, October 6, at 7 p.m. EST via Zoom Videoconference. It will focus on specific sections of your profile. I will explain the importance of each section  and steps for better visibility and connection.

In this one hour presentation I will go through the most important sections of your profile. The ones that impact you the most such as your headline, photo, about section and experience. We will take a deep dive so you can Level Up Your Career with an Eye Catching Profile on LinkedIn.

It’s time to act! Don’t miss this opportunity. If you are a job seeker or just want to improve your visibility and engage more, this webinar is for you. Click on the link below to register for this career-building opportunity.
