Navigating Through Struggle
Hi Everyone,
I know that it has been a while since I’ve written anything for Bold Blind Beauty, but to be honest this small break I took was needed. I was really struggling with my mental health, and just trying to figure out what my next steps are after I graduate college. But, I took time to focus on my personal goals and what it is that I really want.
Although I really want to make new friends and connect, I am okay with just being by myself. I still get lonely at times, but I make it a priority to reach out to friends to set up a day to hang out. I’ve also found things that I can do when I get bored or when I start to feel stressed and anxious because of school or other things.
At this point in my life, I am really trying to find the things that work for me. Something a really good friend of mine told me was that I need to find coping strategies for when things start to get tough. Recently, I started getting into art—something I originally planned to do to share with everyone but mostly the blind community—but when I started this new project I found that it is actually helping me.
Identifying Things That Bring Personal Joy

For my birthday last week, I took a little vacation, rested, and started to figure out what else I need. If you are starting to feel like you don’t know what it is that you want in this moment, think about the things that bring you joy. Think about things that will help you cope, but most importantly do some self-reflection and find things that are meaningful to you.
I also decided that I want to start going to therapy outside of college, I have found that some people don’t think that therapy is a good thing, they believe that therapy is only needed when you are struggling or when things are going wrong in your life. But the truth is that therapy is needed regardless of what is going on in your life. Therapy is a way for you to find those coping strategies, it is a way for you to speak to someone that isn’t in your circle of friends or family, it is a way for you to find yourself and find the things that work for you.
As I have been mentioning in past posts, create your own happiness. And remember, there are things that you may not have control over, but all of us have control over how we react to things and how we choose to live our lives.
Have a great weekend 🙂
