Finding Your Happy Place

Where is your happy place?

Hi, welcome back. I hope all of you are doing great.

I have a question for you, where is your happy place? Where do you like to go to get away from your everyday routine? Think about it and let me know over on my social media.

I wanted to discuss this topic this week because I am currently on a little mini vacay, as I am writing this. I used to come here once a year and when I was seventeen, I feel like I didn’t appreciate the time that I spent here. Six years later, I feel like I have a completely new outlook on the time I want to spend while I am here.

As a teen I was caught up in always needing to talk to friends, always being on social media, not caring about the moments that I was in when with my family. However, when I was coming to my mini vacay, I told myself: ‘Gabby, take in everything, listen to the birds chirping, be present and mindful in every moment that you spend. Go swimming in the pool, journal, write, listen to music, soak up the sun, rest and most of all, cherish all the memories that you will make.’

Something that I love is the fact that I have family in different parts of the world. So, for me I have multiple places that make me happy. This week I am really going to take advantage of everything. Hang out on the beach and read.

Mindshift leads to new perspectives

As a teen I was focused on all of the wrong things. Sure I brought a tripod because I am a content creator and I love capturing moments, but looking back on where I was six years ago, I am such a different person. I’m still me, but my outlook on how I choose to dedicate my time has completely shifted. I feel good not having to constantly be on the phone with friends. I love them, but also I am using this time as an opportunity to reflect, step back and do all of the things that I love to do.

As I am writing this it is completely silent. Usually I don’t like silence because silence can be the loudest noise. However, in this moment I am present, I am hearing all of the birds chirping, cars driving by, the sound of a clock ticking on the wall across the room and the sound of the ocean as the waves splash upon the beach. Some of these may sound like irrelevant things, but sometimes you need to find the beauty amongst the silence around you. Even if it is something as simple as a clock ticking or the cars outside. There is beauty in simplicity and seventeen year old Gabby never cared enough to notice it. However, the new Gabby finds solitude in silence.

So, find your happy place where you can listen to the birds, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee while reading a book. A place where you find solitude in silence. Reflect, write and focus on your energy.

Please let me know where you go to find solitude and what are some of the simple things that bring you joy. Be sure to follow me on my socials linked down below. 🙂
