“Farewell has a sweet sound of reluctance. Good-by is short and final, a word with teeth sharp to bite through the string that ties past to the future.”

Editor’s Note
As the founder and editor of Bold Blind Beauty, I find nothing more fulfilling than uplifting others through advocacy. Our Virtual Work Experience Program sets us apart by amplifying voices and teaching advocacy, by example, to our interns.
My goal when starting this blog was to help at least one person. Little did I know, my team and I would have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of young people with disabilities.
The Virtual Work Experience Program has not only provided growth for the young participants but also for our BBB Team. We have learned so much from the students we’ve been fortunate to mentor.
Jadon Lau, the latest intern to come through the Virtual Work Experience Program wrote the following farewell article. When you have a moment you can check out some of Jadon’s work here:

For us, it’s difficult to bid farewell to an intern who has become an integral part of our team. Jadon, please know that your hard work, and thoughtfulness have made a lasting impact on all of us. Thank you. ~The BBB Team
Farewell, & Thanks for the Experience

Hi, Jadon here!
It’s been my joy and honor to work with Bold Blind Beauty as an intern. I am glad to have been connected by VISIONS/Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired to BBB’s Virtual Work Experience Program. My greatest thanks to Stephanae, Nasreen, Matthew, and our brand ambassador Anne for making my work experience so wonderful. I was delighted to be part of this team and I encourage you, prospective intern or volunteer, to join our team if you have the time, if you want to help our mission. Success starts somewhere, so let it start with you.
According to Wright State University, “A Mentorship is a form of experiential learning that integrates knowledge and theory learned in the classroom with practical application and skills development in a professional setting. Mentorships give students the opportunity to gain valuable applied experience and make connections in professional fields they are considering for career paths and give employers the opportunity to guide and evaluate talent.”
The Virtual Work Experience Program
Bold Blind Beauty opened its Virtual Work Experience Program from the principles of mentorships. The program focuses on areas that are in need of creating, modifying and or, developing deliverables to enhance and enrich Bold Blind Beauty’s engagement with the community.
I was referred to the program by the Director of Placement Services run by VISIONS/Services for the Blind & Visually Impaired. It was a delight meeting with Stephanae and Nasreen to get to know each other and discuss my duties as a mentee.
I also got to meet and work with a fellow intern Matthew, and our brand ambassador Anne in marketing our e-store. I enjoyed writing articles for Bold Blind Beauty and doing outreach to people for our Beyond Sight series. I enjoy working with the team and helping to expand our reach to people. Bold Blind Beauty has made a great impact on me, helping me expand my skill sets and network with people and make a social impact I am proud of.
Matthew is thankful to Bold Blind Beauty and was glad to intern with the team, saying, “As an intern for Bold Blind Beauty, I have developed many skills I hope to take with me into college. I worked with the whole team while I took notes, contributed ideas, and made suggestions. I loved being able to participate in the webinar. It was exciting for me, as it was my first time being a panelist in a webinar. I learned so much while being an intern, and I am so glad to have joined Bold Blind Beauty. I thank the BBB team for their kind support and compassion.”
As a mentee, I am grateful to my mentors and the Virtual Work Experience Program for helping me grow skills that I can take into college and beyond into my career. The Virtual Work Experience Program is beneficial to the mentee and mentor by helping the mentee grow while the mentor and company can outreach and leave a social impact.
Bold Blind Beauty is open to new interns for the fall semester starting in August. We hope you will give our program and mentorship good consideration. To learn more about interning with us, contact us at info@boldblindbeauty.com with the subject Virtual Work Experience Program. Thank you.
