‘Choice’ A.K.A.’ Selective’ Is My Form Of Self-Love

The choice to record a video for Katherin’s “How Do You Love Yourself?” campaign caused me a brief panic attack. I grew up in an age where listening to my recorded voice was cringe-worthy. So imagine how it must feel to see and hear myself? Yikes! But I did it!

When you have a minute check the video out at KE Garland’s How Do You Love YourSELF link.

Image Description:

Panoramic watercolor cityscape in shades of blue and green. Reflections of the black buildings in the background are seen in the river. In the foreground is a black silhouette of a fashionable woman. She is holding her wide-brimmed hat as her dress blows in the wind.  Six red heart balloons (three on each side of her) appear to be floating in the air around her.

I'm a highly sensitive proud introvert and a recovering people-pleaser. These traits or quirks used to bother me because I always felt out of place until I began a recent process of self-acceptance. While I'm still a work in progress, I view my quirks as my superpowers and am grateful that they contribute to who I am today.

  1. One of my favorite entries for Katherin’s month of Self-Love. And so fun to see you ‘real life’. You did fantastic!

  2. YES!! Giving yourself permission to fail is an excellent way to love yourself. I fail at that one consistently but I also consistently keep trying. <3 Thank you for stopping by and commenting. <3

  3. Awe, thanks Lynne. I can’t tell you how much I hate doing videos. It feels so unnatural to me but in order to get better at I have to force myelf to continue doing them. Thank you! How are you? Have you had your surgery?

  4. I loved what you had to say about “How do I love myself”. I also liked the sound of your voice (very soothing) but I totally understand what you mean about someone not liking the sound of their own voice. I know sometimes I don’t too.
Well how do I love MYSELF?? Maybe it’s the fact that I give myself permission to fail and not beat myself up over it. At least that’s what I try to do, but even that I fail at sometimes. That’s ok too though.

  5. You have a lovely voice. And I totally love your video.
I love the idea of being selective as self love.
