8 Tips To Develop A Night Time Routine

“It is a common experience that a problem difficult at night is resolved in the morning after the committee of sleep has worked on it.”

Self-Care Sunday With Gabby

What is a night time routine? A night time routine helps you to unwind before bed. During this specific time, you can practice self-care.

Here are some ways that you can develop a night time routine.

1. Take a nice bath or shower

Taking a bath or shower before bed gives your body a chance to cool down and feel refreshed. You can soak in some Epsom salt, or throw in a bath bomb or shower steamer.

2. Light a candle or turn on an essential oil diffuser

I love using essential oil diffusers. You can purchase essential oils on Amazon, they have a variety of oils to choose from. My favorites are Lavender, Eucalyptus and peppermint. Essential oil diffusers create a calming environment.

3. Read a book

Because of school and other responsibilities, I haven’t had the chance to curl up with a good book. Now that I am done with school, I plan on catching up on some books. You can listen to an audio book or simply read a book.

4. Do some yoga

You have heard me mention yoga in my previous posts, but yoga is so great. You don’t have to do anything difficult, you can just do some stretches, or simple movements. Check out this link for more. https://youtube.com/channel/UCSJCXbR__C7IztG4us-8Hjw

5. Practice your skin care routine

Taking care of your skin is so crucial. My skin care routine consists of me washing my face with a face wash, or using a cleanser and applying my moisturizer. Your skin care routine doesn’t need to be extensive, just make sure you dedicate some time to it.

6. Meditate

Meditation is so amazing. At night I like to unwind with a guided sleep meditation. Not only does it help me fall asleep, but I realize that I get a good night’s rest. I recommend Headspace. They have a wide variety of guided meditations, study music and soundscapes that you can check out.

7. Drink some tea

For Christmas my friend sent me four boxes of celestial seasonings Sleepy time tea. I love their tea. She sent me lavender, chamomile lavender, herbal tea and chamomile. Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime tea is a great way to unwind.

8. Limit screen time

I know that a lot of people like to watch tv before bed, but it isn’t a great way to unwind. I don’t watch tv, but I do have a bad habit of watching things on my phone or Ipad. I have been setting time to do things on my phone as well as time when I should put it down. Try something else before bed as a replacement for screen time.

Conclusion

Night time routines are crucial, making sure that you take some time for yourself at the end of the day is important. I challenge you all to try your night time routine for one week, then let me know how you felt after. Enjoy your self-care Sunday 🙂
