Cool As A Cucumber in Celery

A Quick & Effortless Maxi Styling Solution

20160617_121147-001I can’t stand cucumbers and I hate celery. Okay well that’s not totally true, I like celery if it’s mixed in certain foods but to eat it in its native form um, yeah, hating it is about right. And cucumbers? I dunno, I used to like them and then blah.

Thankfully I’m not going to be talking about cucumbers or celery with the exception of being cool, like a cucumber, in a celery colored maxi dress. My favorite item of clothing next to a pencil skirt is a maxi because they’re comfortable, versatile and hide my banged up legs.

The maxi slip dress in the photo was given to me by my aunt last year—thanks Aunt Bevy!! Before I forget, when living on a fixed income accepting pre-owned clothing from stylish friends and family members can be a blessing that simply cannot be declined.

Lightweight polyester fabric and spaghetti straps on the dress pairs nicely with an old denim jacket. And since I must have bling in some form, gold embellished sandals, a multi-strand rhinestone enhanced necklace & small drop earrings give me that sparkle I cannot live without. Topping off the look with a navy & natural striped straw clutch and shades presents an easy breezy chic appearance.

Today is the first day of summer and one of the longest days of the year—YAY!! Live it up!!

  1. I’m so ignorant of women’s clothing, I’m not even entirely sure what a maxi is. Knowing your good fashion sense though, Steph, I’m certain it will look great on you. 🙂

    1. Poor, poor Bun tsk, tsk. I’m sure you know what a mini is right? 😉

      1. Oh, it’s the opposite of one of those? I see. 🙂

      2. Hahaha! Yup, and a midi is in between a mini and maxi.

      3. A-ha! It’s all beginning to make sense. 🙂

  2. Looking smart as always! Meanwhile, I’m so lazy I end up wearing jeans or shorts and t-shirts all year round, with a jacket added in winter. Oh, apart from scarves, my weakness. The tangerine one is my favourite, but the other evening I went out to a concert with my Mum for her birthday and wore black pants and top, teamed with a tailored grey velvet coat I got from the thrift shop. A designer coat for a few dollars, no kidding, well made and fully lined! Plus a vintage silver scarf given to me by and elderly relative, because a bit of bling adds some sparkle!

    1. Most days when I’m just hanging around here you’ll typically find me in jeans or sweats. I like to call it my dog walking outfit completely makeup free and it feels so good. The outfit you describe sounds divine!! And I’m a HUGE lover of sparkle!

  3. Like the dress especially the colo. Wow it feels really cool.

  4. I love maxis too very comfy and flattering. I have just pressed follow on Twitter. Forgot to suggest clothes swapping parties as a great way to revamp your wardrobe. Invite friends and swap clothes you have outgrown or bought on an impulse. Its also a lot of fun.

    1. Ooooo yeah clothes swapping parties! I’ve heard of them but have not attended any-they sound like fun.

      1. Yes – a fun way to get a new wardrobe.

  5. I am so into maxi dresses! I got a couple a few years ago, and now it is all I want to wear!

    1. I know right?? They are so comfy and easy to wear.

  6. Sounds like a great outfit for you!

I love celery and peanut butter, and cucumber/tomato/feta cheese with a dressing.

    Enjoy your summer!

    1. Thanks Katelon. I tried to eat celery and peanut butter (loved the peanut butter). Every time I’ve tried to eat it I choked unless it’s cut up very small.

      1. Sorry you choke on the celery 🙁

      2. I know it’s so pathetic hahaha and it’s crunch sounds so darn good when I hear people eating it.

  7. Enjoy the best of the season and that coloured celery is quite cool.

  8. Love wearing dresses in the summer especially maxis too. So comfortable.

  9. That color is gorgeous, I bet it looks good on you!
