Dare to be Inspired

The Click of a Button

“Through my travels within this virtual world I am transformed by, and in awe of, the extraordinary talent of you who have honored me with your visits, kind words and encouragement.

Each time I visit each of your unique communities I am greeted with wondrous works of creativity through many mediums and I am always provoked to learn, laugh, cry, reflect, or relate. Who would have thought many years ago when we were first urged to write to pen pals in other parts of the world that we would come to a point where all it would take is a literal click of a button.”

The above excerpt from the post Spellbindingly Surreal, I wrote last year as a way of showing my appreciation for the unique works of you, my fellow bloggers. I felt the need to lead with this bit as once again I’m thrilled and overwhelmed at the sense of community with you all.

Earlier this week I was so excited I just couldn’t stand it!! Even though I didn’t have access to my computer for most of last week, something extraordinary happened and I’d like to share it with you.

So what was this extraordinary event?

Two words: David Snape

Huh? Who’s David Snape and what does he have to do with your blog Steph? Please just bare with me for a moment while I elaborate.

If I had to choose one word to sum up David it would be the word HOPE.

A person who stands tall in a world of people who stand on tiptoes, David Snape runs the blog, “David Snape and Friends, A Place to be Inspired and Show off Your Skills.” He is an amazing young man who unselfishly promotes the works of other bloggers through his blog and internet radio program, The David Snape Show. The opportunity to read a wide assortment of diverse works in one place is gratifying because in one sweep you can meet many people from varied backgrounds and enjoy their creativity.

David, who’s open and honest about his Autism, is an inspiring role model to everyone. Though he shares a bit of his struggle with school and social life, this hasn’t prevented him from going to college, holding several positions, managing a blog, and hosting a radio show. The nonprofit internet radio station, SouthWaves Radio, based in the UK was created, and is managed by people with Autism.

Anyway, since David is always on the lookout for content to publish, a couple of weeks ago I sent him an email with two recent articles from my blog and to my delight he posted one of them. I knew something strange was going on as I kept getting email alerts on my cell phone. Unfortunately I couldn’t read any of them because my vision has recently taken yet another turn for the worse but as soon as I got to my computer I could see that my blog stats blew up.

All the sudden there was a surge of new visitors, some of whom told me they found me through David’s blog. To think that this one little act of kindness would generate so much activity was above and beyond anything I could have imagined – what a wonderful feeling!

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I get this email from David on Sunday letting me know that he would be featuring my post, Do You, No One Else Does It Better, on his radio show. I was so overjoyed I think I may have briefly passed out.

Anyhoo, the show will be running on Thursday 1pm GMT and Saturday 8am GMT (sorry I couldn’t do this post prior to yesterday’s airing) on SouthWaves Radio.

At this juncture (I’ve always wanted to use this word and it fits perfectly here), I want to thank David for the mention and all of you for visiting, liking, commenting, and following my blog. I’ve always been of the belief that all of us are interconnected and it still blows my mind each and every time I meet someone new and we just click. It’s simply ah-mazing.

    1. Thank you David 🙂 When I saw your comment tears sprang to my eyes because I try so hard not to take things for granted (even though at this stage of the game I forget more often than not lol). But seriously we really are in this together and I’m loving every minute of it.

    1. Thank you Lynz!! On a side note, I Googled the mall that you posted on your blog last week and found a YouTube video which confirmed that the upper most part of the building is a walkway – Yikes!! With my fear of bridges I’d never survive walking it.
