HELP!! I’ve Gone From a Walk-In to a Hole in the Wall

Do you have chaos in your closet?

Do you have difficulty finding that favorite blouse?

Do you have a small closet and need help getting it in order?

Are you at a loss of what to do now that you no longer have a walk-in closet?

If any or all of the above describe your situation, despair no longer. Just sit back, relax and allow me to help you out of your disorganization rut.

Today’s focus will be a video on closet organization:

It took a bit of time for me to get used to organizing my clothes by color as opposed to item. For example I would group all short sleeve tops together and then color code within that group. So it looked something like this: sleeveless, short-sleeved cotton and woven blends, short-sleeved knits, long-sleeved, long-sleeved knits, skirts, dresses and so on.

Grouping by doesn’t allow for garment type continuity but being able to differentiate colors is a little easier on the eyes. In my next video I’ll demonstrate how to use a pen friend for clothing care labeling.

Do you have any organizational tips that you would like to share with your fellow readers? If so please drop us a line in the comments or you can reach me directly via email at

  1. I like the organizer and have to look into that. However, I use bedroom closet for work clothers: fleece pants and shirts on far left. Pants next on left; short sleeves on rith; and work smocks on far right. I don’t worry about the colors too much; since all pants are black and the shirts are red, black, and white.

    1. Hi Sherri, I’m so glad to hear that you like the organizer. It sounds like you’ve got a pretty good system in place.

  2. I like the way you organized your closet. That was a helpful video.

    1. Thank you Theresa.

  3. I still use the by category and then color grouping style to organize my closet. It makes my life so much easier.

    1. Amen to that Glenda!!
