Perfectly Pointed Pink Pumps

Killer Heels

Christian Dior Hot Pink heelsI love heels!! There really is no better feeling in the world than working a pair of great heels.

When my eyes went wonky I got this crazy thought in my head that I needed to stop wearing heels for safety purposes so I invested in a variety of flats. Though some of them are kinda sharp (it’s really dependent upon what I wear with them) I just cannot get the same feeling that I do when I wear heels.

My reasoning to forego heels for flats was that I thought since I couldn’t see very well I would be falling more frequently – and I did. But here’s the thing, I’ve always been clumsy. The fact that I can’t see now has little to do with my clumsiness. Sure, it takes a little time getting acclimated to new environments but once I do I’m golden. Thus the problem was solved and I began wearing heels once again.

So when I saw these gorgeous HOT pink Christian Dior pumps on Pinterest, I know for sure that my eyes were bulging out of my head. Pink has never been one of my favorite colors, as a matter of fact I could be best be described as anti-pink but, Oh. My. Gosh. these shoes are stunningly hot, so hot they’re sizzling.

I can picture myself stepping out in these pumps wearing all black, the outfit could be black pants or skirt with a black blouse or blue jeans with a black & white striped top or a black & white striped pencil skirt with a black top. With any of these options the shoes would make a bold statement.

Big Bold Brights

Prior to seeing these Dior pumps the only two bright colors I’ve been looking for to wear this coming spring are yellow and blue. So today when I saw “BRIGHTS ARE BIG” on DSW’s website I was pretty excited and couldn’t wait to see if I could find my dream shoes.

I wish I could whistle because not only were the colors nice and bright the style of the shoes are my favorite – d’orsays. A rainbow of colors: navy blue, cobalt, turquoise, blue, dark red, pink, orange, tangerine and red is a nice assortment.

Though I love the colors and the style of these pointed, d’orsay pumps, at 4 and one-quarter inch high heels, I might have to pass. This height was a piece of cake when I was younger but now that I’m more seasoned and have back issues I typically opt for a more reasonable 3 inch or lower heels.

If heels aren’t your thing there is a range of many colorful styles from which to choose. But let’s say you want a shoe that will give you some height but more stability than a stiletto, you might opt for a wedge or a shoe with a chunkier heel. These type shoes provide greater support and can be quite comfortable. Anne Klein, Adrienne Vittadini, Aerosoles, Lifestride, Nine West and J. Renee are just a few of the brands where you can find either a stylish lower heel or wedge.

In today’s post are pictures of 2 heels (one pair are the hot pink Dior), 2 flats and 2 wedges. Following are the descriptions:

  1. BCBG Paris Jaze Suede Pump | DSW
This tangerine colored shoe is one of nine different colors and is the 4¼” heel that I mentioned above. It’s a d’orsay covered heel suede pump with a pointed toe. Speaking of d’orsay, I finally got started adding terms to the fashion glossary and d’orsay is one of the words described. In this particular d’orsay the instep is exposed.
  2. VanEli Sigrid Ballet Flat | DSW
The mellow yellow color on this quilted style ballet flat is so soothing. It has a smooth round cap toe with gold chain detail.
  3. Coral striped d’orsay flat | Express
I first saw these flats a few weeks ago and what I like most, aside from the use of my favorite color, is how a solid color and black & white stripes were combined. Both sides of these d’orsays are cut out to expose the instep and outer portion of the foot. The heel is black and white stripes and the pointed toe is coral. The contrast between the stripe and the coral makes a statement.
  4. Nine West Jelica Yellow Leather | 6pm
This is one of the two wedge shoes that I spoke of above. It’s a little higher because it has a small platform giving the entire heel a height of 2 and 3 quarter inches. This shoe is yellow and has a cork wedge platform heel. The toe is open and the cut-out design up to the point of the open toe looks almost like overlapping straps.
  5. LAUREN by Ralph Lauren Cecilia Turquoise – 6pm
The second wedge shoe is an espadrille peep toe with fabric upper on a jute wrapped platform wedge and footbed. At 2 and one half inches high in a beautiful shade of turquoise this shoe screams comfort.

Though it looks like we have gotten every one of the 7 inches of snow predicted today, all I can do is dream of wearing shoes (heels or flats). Boots still rule the day (thank you very much Punxsutawney Phil)!

Oh well, have a great weekend everyone.
