Women on the Move: Making A Difference

Yesterday evening I was thrilled to be able to attend the 2014 Person of Vision Celebration hosted by Blind & Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh. This year’s honoree was Laura Karet, CEO of Giant Eagle.

For as long as I can remember I’ve greatly admired Giant Eagle for their unwavering leadership and support within our community for hiring people with disabilities. In the today’s video clip, Sherri Rodgers who is blind and deaf, has been an employee of Giant Eagle for 14-1/2 years. (I featured Sherri and her twin sister Susan on January 10 of this year – here is the link to their story Susan & Sherri Post).

It was a wonderful evening that began with a cocktail reception followed by a sumptuous dinner. The speakers were charismatic, the food divine, my table-mates engaging and it was an overall outstanding event. Sherri, great speech!!

Congratulations go out to  Laura Karet for this well deserved honor and many thanks to Blind and Vision Rehabilitation Services of Pittsburgh for the work you do to improve the lives of those who are blind, have vision loss or other disabilities. The work you do allows those of us who are affected by vision loss to remain productive members of our community.
