Shoe Lovin’ Saturdays: Weigh-In Day #2

Good News Comes In Threes

February is National Heart Healthy Month
  • First my talking scale arrived on Thursday just in time for Saturday’s weigh-in.
  • Second I get an email from Ebates Customer Care alerting me to my cash back status and I’ll be receiving a $15.07 check just for shopping at participating online retailers.
  • Third and this is HUGE I lost 3.4 pounds last week which means I went from 166 to 162.6. Not bad for one week of following Weight Watchers and exercising daily.

I’m glad my brother stopped by to help me with the scale since the instructions came in regular size print that I can’t read. And while he gets a charge out of being right sometimes, he hit a snag trying to get the scale to stop speaking Spanish. It seems each time he hit the button to switch it to English it continued in Spanish. But he finally got it working and of course he had to test it because I insisted on waiting until Saturday.

In view of my healthy lifestyle pledge I decided not to buy any clothes but I wanted to get some accessories to punch up my wardrobe a bit. Adding a few new cosmetic finds to ease makeup application for blind and vision impaired women was also necessary. Finally, I ordered two pairs of shoes (one pair is the running shoes for my treadmill and elliptical workouts and the other is a pair of Calvin Kline pumps).

The Ebates check that I will be receiving is the total of products I’ve ordered from participating retailers over the past 4 months. My thinking is, if you’re going to buy it anyway why not get paid for it.

Back to the shoes though – I already mentioned earlier in the week that I put the running shoes I wanted in my online Finishline shopping cart but I just couldn’t commit to buying them. When I went back to the cart this week they were even less than the original deal so I got them.

The Calvin Klein Jeans Kaleigh Pump was so adorable and at $39.95 I could not pass it by. Plus I had a $25 DSW gift card to use, add the Ebates 4 percent cast back and it was destiny!!

I’ve been looking for white and black shoes and just couldn’t find anything that suited my tastes or the heels of the ones I liked were too high. With 2 inch black kitten heels and white reptile embossed leather uppers these shoes would look nice with jeans, leggings, skirt or a dress.

In keeping with the black & white theme I would like a clutch in the same colors. I haven’t found THE ONE but I did find a cute New Look Barley Metal Rod Clutch Bag for $24.06 from

The clutch contains an internal pocket, is made from a leather-look fabric with a mock-croc finish. It has a white colored flat top opening, press stud fastening, with cutout and metal rod. The body of the clutch is black with gold-tone accents and includes a detachable chain shoulder strap.

As I’ve said previously my favorite all time colors that are always in style are black and white. This year however I will continue to build my accessories on the corals and teal that I started last year.

Remember when you feel good you look good. Feeling good is half the battle to looking good.

Have a great weekend!!
