It’s Super Bowl Sunday
12 billion dollars! That’s the amount of money Americans spent on clothing, food and decorations for the Super Bowl this year. If I heard nothing else on this morning’s news this captured my attention.
Not being a sports fan I struggle to understand the fanaticism over the game of football. Even during the times I went to the occasional Super Bowl party my major motivation was strictly for the food, drink, commercials and being with good friends.
Why the aversion to football? Maybe it goes back to grade school days during recess when I was a skinny little nerd and was always left for last when kickball captains were picking teams. Or it could be gym class in high school and my fumbling attempts at scoring points playing volleyball. Maybe I am just genetically inclined to hate sports or it could be as simple as (though I hated to admit it) I was a girly girl. But back to the topic at hand.
These days the only Super Bowl that makes sense to me is the Puppy Bowl. Now THAT’s entertainment and you can’t dismiss the cuteness factor. Although since I heard a couple of local women are performing during this years’ Super Bowl (one will sing the national anthem and the other by sign language), Bruno Mars will be the featured half-time entertainment and there are promising commercials I suppose I will be watching the game today.
Since it will just be me and Mollie (my fur kid) watching today’s game I’m thinking I probably won’t get all glammed up. But, if I were to do so I would definitely go for sparkle.
When you think of jewelry it doesn’t necessarily always have to be pieces like necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings. Embellishments (such as rhinestones, studs, sequins, beads) on clothing can be a suitable alternative to wearing standalone jewelry.
Being a girly girl when I look for Pittsburgh Steelers’ gear like tee shirts, tank tops, sweatshirts or hoodies I prefer them to have bling and look feminine. If I were going to a Super Bowl party today, even though the Steelers aren’t playing, I would probably wear the following described items as pictured throughout this post:
Pittsburgh Steelers 47 Brand Women’s Sparkle Adjustable Hat – Official – $22 Steelers.com. I do have a weakness for baseball caps especially if they sparkle.
Steelers Rhinestone Hoop Earrings – $14.99 eBay.com. These are so cute with the Steeler logo in the center of the rhinestone encrusted hoops.
Pittsburgh Steelers Ladies Draft Me Square Neck T-Shirt Black – $56 Footballfanatics.com. This is a cute T-shirt with gold sequins although my preference would be silver it’s still adorable.
- Screen print graphics
- Sequin applique
- Raglan sleeves
- V-neck with faux tie accent
Simply Vera Vera Wang Jet Simulated Crystal and Cabochon Multi-strand Bracelet. $34 Kohls.com. Okay, so the bracelet may be a little over the top but I’d proudly wear it to complete my outfit. Bracelet Details:
- Length: 7 in. with 3 in. extender
- Clasp: lobster-claw
- Metal: jet
- Stones: gray & iridescent simulated crystal
- Inlays: mint cabochon
MANGO Essential black leggings $20 MANGO.COM.
Bandolino Melanie – Reach for the stars in these dazzling flats! Slip-on design. Sleek fabric upper. Scintillating studs and crystals embellish the vamp. $30 6PM.COM I have a couple of pair of black flats that are very similar to these and they complete the bling factor.
As I’ve demonstrated here, you don’t necessarily need to wear jewelry per-se to dress up an outfit if you opt for embellished attire. Depending on how much or little you desire you could add earrings, bracelets, rings and don’t forget a pair of cute flats with bling.
Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday and I’ll chat with you tomorrow!!
