My fanaticism over jewelry began about 12 years ago when Elaine, my supervisor at the time, invited me to her Premier Designs jewelry show. Since I had never been to a jewelry show I can honestly say I had no expectations and being that I am somewhat introverted my main fears were: #1 how many people would be there, #2 would I know any of them and #3 would I have to emerge from my comfortable shell. My fears were totally and completely overblown and even though there were a number of guests in attendance I felt at ease and I must grudgingly admit that I had fun, BIG fun!!
Nicole, the jewelry consultant, was superb and because of her magnetic personality she was able to get everyone to willingly participate in her demonstrations. The jewelry was striking and Elaine earned a ton of it by virtue of being a hostess and bringing in so many sales from her guests. If you have ever been to a Pampered Chef, Home Interiors or PartyLite shows they basically operate on the same premise whereby the host/hostess gets a percentage of free product based upon the party’s total sales. Also, at some point during the presentation the consultant will try to get attendees to book additional parties. It was during this point in the presentation when I found myself signing up to host a jewelry show. To this day I still don’t know how it happened, it was if I was in a daze, or had an out-of-body experience, because I couldn’t be a hostess, it just wasn’t in my DNA. But there I was ensnared by a dainty, sparkly bracelet that seemed to be saying “steph, steph please take me home.” Immediately after agreeing to do this I felt nauseous it was akin to buyer’s remorse but the draw of that bracelet was so strong it overrode my fight or flight response (pathetic I know).
The following picture shows the front and back of the pin/necklace. I really like these convertible pieces because I have more options for how I want to wear the jewelry. The jewelry in this post didn’t cost me anything since I earned them by hosting a show and as I add more Sparkling Sunday posts you’ll get to see more of my collection.
