1 Pencil Skirt, 3 Looks: Day 2

The Beauty Of Double Duty

Collage of 3 images of me in standing poses with my white cane.Continuing where I left off yesterday, today’s look has a couple of hidden features which are displayed in the second photo (description below).

When I was young I wanted to be a spy when I grew up. Disguises, secret codes, and covert communications greatly appealed to me. Considering my childhood dream it comes as no surprise that I love all things double duty including clothing and accessories.

The ‘choker’ is actually a long strand of faux pearls which I’ve doubled up and secured with a little clip at the back of my neck. To add extra pizzazz, at times I will affix a brooch to the front of the faux choker. The skirt has a hidden zipper in the split at the back which allows me to convert it to a non split. Cool huh?

Standing pose with an insert of the skirt displaying the open split/zipper, strand of pearls and necklace shortener.

I’ve had the silver plated clip for many years (an awesome purchase from Premier Design Jewelry). Unfortunately I can’t remember the formal name but you can search for a necklace shortener or clip.

Images: Gray Ann Taylor skirt, burgundy Ann Taylor, surplice (faux wrap) top, burgundy opaque tights, gray patterned faux suede ankle boots, faux pearl choker, chunky bracelet, and finally my white cane.

While I'm still a work in progress, I view my quirks as my superpowers and am grateful that they contribute to who I am today.

  1. Thanks Robyn! I sat here racking my brain trying to recall what they were called. Mine is very old and I actually need a new one because the finish has worn off but it’s still working and unfortunately I keep forgetting to look for a replacement that is, until I use the existing one. The multi-tasking approach also works hand in hand with paring down. It makes my life so much easier when I have less but can do more with what I have.

  2. Great look Steph! We call those clips ‘enhancers’. I used to have one but have no idea where it is now – sigh. So many things went missing in the ‘great upheaval’. I like anything that can multi-task.

  3. Thank you Kerry! When I saw these boots about a year or so ago I just had to have them. They’re not really functional for anything other than looking cute.😜

  4. Oh my goodness yes. Years ago I struggled with the ‘what ifs’ dilemma until I got smart and rolled my outfits as complete sets (accessories included) . I got so good at taking just the minimal amount of clothing I never had to check my bag at the airport.
